Dimitrios P. Kontoyiannis is a Professor and the Robert C Hickey Endowed Chair in Clinical Care, Deputy Head, Division of Internal Medicine and Professor in the Division of Internal Medicine at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Dr. Kontoyiannis has authored over 700 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has given over 380 lectures in national/ international conferences and academic institutions. He is considered one of the 1-2 leading mycology experts world-wide (expertscape.com) with an H index of 131 and over 72200 citations. His research group is credited for many and sustained contributions to clinical, translational and experimental mycology and in infections in cancer patients in general. He is the president-elect of the Mycoses Study Group and Education Consortium (2024-2026) and past president- elect of Immunocompromised Host Society (2016-2018) and the recipient of many national and international prestigious awards and memberships in honorary medical and scientific societies such as AAAS and AAP. He is the leader of the European Confederation of Medical Mycology (ECMM) Diamond Excellence in Mycology Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center, the only US center to receive such designation by ECMM.
