Dr. Thompson is a Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Davis Medical Center with a joint appointment in the Departments of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases; and Medical Microbiology and Immunology. He has extensive experience in the management of opportunistic and endemic fungal infections. His clinical and research interests focus on the diagnosis and treatment of fungal diseases, particularly in immunocompromised hosts. He has been involved in developing new antifungal drugs and in clinical trials of new antifungal compounds in addition to fungal diagnostics and patient outcomes oriented resesarch.
