Virginia M. Pierce, MD, FIDSA, is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pathology and Pediatrics at the University of Michigan Medical School and a director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at Michigan Medicine. She has a background in both clinical microbiology and pediatric infectious diseases, with particular expertise in antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Dr. Pierce is a voting member of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) Subcommittee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing and the CLSI Expert Panel on Microbiology. She also serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology Reviews.
