Dr. Esther Babady is a board-certified clinical microbiologist with expertise in the molecular laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases. She received her doctoral degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Microbiology both at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She is the chief of the Clinical Microbiology Service, an Attending Microbiologist and Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Babady has published extensively on diagnostic microbiology tests with a focus on molecular diagnostics. She is a Senior Editor for Microbiology Spectrum and also serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Virology and the Journal of Molecular Diagnostics. She is an elected fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America and the American Academy of Microbiology.
