ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF MEDICINE

I am an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious, Department of Medicine at Stony Brook University, NY. My research is on vector-borne diseases, neglected tropical diseases, tick-borne diseases and medical education.
I graduated from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru; followed by an Internal Medicine Residency at University of Texas in Houston, TX; an Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, MO; and a MPH at Bllomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. I have been faculty at Stony Brook University since 2015. I am the current Director of the Tick-Borne Disease Clinic in my deparrtment. I am currently doing research on the immune response and RNA signarure in Humans with Lyme Disease and other Tick-Borne Diseases. In medical education, I am currently the Fellowship Program Director at Stony Brook University. I also do research overseas in Peru, where 3-4 medical students travel every year to do research on diagnostics on parasitic diseases that affects rural areas.
