Judith R. Campbell, M.D. is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. She completed medical school, pediatric residency and subspecialty training in Infectious Diseases at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital. She has been a member of the faculty at BCM and medical staff at Texas Children’s Hospital for over 30 years. Her roles include patient care, hospital epidemiology, infection prevention and control, medical education and administrative leadership.
At Texas Children’s Hospital Dr. Campbell serves as an Infectious Disease attending physician and as the Medical Director for the Department of Infection Control and Prevention. She has studied the epidemiology and control of healthcare associated infections and outbreaks throughout her career. She also has an interest in emerging pathogens such as Ebola and SARS-CoV-2. Her passions are patient care, medical education and quality improvement.
Personally, she has been married for 39 years, has 3 adult children and enjoys reading, cycling, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
