Andrés F. Henao-Martínez, M.D., graduated from Universidad del Valle, School of Medicine in Colombia in 2003. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2010, followed by his fellowship in Infectious Diseases with an advanced research year at the University of Colorado Denver in 2014. He has served on the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine faculty since then. He holds the Associate Professor of Medicine position. He is a U.S. board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. He has been the director of the travel clinic at the University of Colorado Hospital since 2016 and was recently appointed as the interim lead for Global Health in the Department of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Henao directs the Outpatient Infectious Diseases Rotation for the Internal Medicine and Preventive medicine residency programs. His research interest is the study of host susceptibility factors to different fungal and tropical infections, including Chagas disease and Cryptococcus. He has published > 160 peer-reviewed publications and holds an H-index of 24 in Scopus and 29 in Google Scholar. He has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the journal Therapeutic Advances in Infectious Disease. He is also a Section Editor for PLoS NTD and PLoS Global Public Health.
