David Fredricks is a physcian scientist who studies the human microbiome. He is a Professor in the Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Division at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center, the Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Department of Microbiology (Adjunct) at the University of Washington in Seattle. His lab at the Fred Hutch uses both molecular microbiological and culture-based methods to understand how resident microbes in humans contribute to health or disease states. His clinical work focuses on infections in patients with cancer.
