Bogadi Loabile (she/her), MD MPH MSCE, is an Instructor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Disease at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also completed a clinical fellowship in Infectious Diseases and a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology. Originally from Botswana, her research interests include healthcare services integration for people with HIV (PWH) in sub-Saharan Africa. She currently spends her time between Philadelphia and Botswana. While in Botswana, she has been involved in several local projects over the last three years, facilitated by the long-standing relationship between Botswana and the University of Pennsylvania. She is the recipient of a supplement on her Mentor’s (Dr. Robert Gross/Dr. Robert Schnoll) NIH R01 grant evaluating smoking cessation in people with HIV, as well as a Penn Mental Health AIDS Research Center (PMHARC) pilot grant that has provided her funding to evaluate the barriers and facilitators to implementing tobacco cessation and depression treatment for people receiving TB treatment, a setting with a high HIV co-infection rate in Botswana. Dr. Loabile aims to become an independent researcher conducting implementation-focused work to integrate evidence-based, resource-informed services to improve healthcare outcomes for individuals living with HIV and those vulnerable to HIV acquisition in Botswana and other similar settings in sub-Saharan Africa.
