Professor Justyna Kowalska is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Adults Infectious Diseases, Medical University of Warsaw and Senior Consultant in Infectious Diseases at the Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Warsaw, Poland. She completed her PhD at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark on long-term effects and toxicity of HIV treatment. During her 25 years of work in the field of Infectious Diseases, Professor Kowalska has carried out numerous scientific projects and contributed to many international research activities. She is the President of the Euroguidelines in Central and Eastern Europe Network Group and a member of EACS Governing Board, the Chair of the EuroSIDA Scientific Committee, Respond Scientific and Steering Committee. She has collaborated with WHO, UNICEF and ECDC on multiple projects in Central and Eastern Europe. Her main research interests include understanding the impact of infectious diseases on both individual and public health, with a special focus on women and marginalised populations.
