Dr. Sofia Zavala is a third-year infectious diseases fellow at Duke University. She earned her medical degree from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. She completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. During fellowship, she completed the Duke Master of Science in Global Health Program. She has a clinical and academic interest in neglected tropical diseases, mycobacterial diseases, particularly tuberculosis, and has more recently has developed an interest in decision analysis and cost-effectiveness analysis.
