Alexandria Boehm is a professor of environmental engineering and of oceans at Stanford University. She studies pathogens in the environment including their sources, fate, and transport in natural and engineered systems, as well as how they are transmitted to humans through contact with water, feces, and contaminated surfaces. She works in both high income, and low and middle income countries. She is the principle investigator and program direction of WastewaterSCAN, a national program to measure infectious disease targets in community wastewater to gain insight into disease epidemiology.
