My name is Alana Agramonte and I'm a medical doctor graduated from Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) in the Dominican Republic in 2022. I started my role as a research assistant and/or volunteer in october 2022 at the Hospital General de la Plaza de la Salud, where I've had the opportunity to participate in many research projects regarding HIV, HIV-derived neurotoxoplasmosis, cardiovascular procedures as well as the project I'm presenting in this congress: the perfomance of a gastrointestinal panel in the diagnosis of infectious gastroenteritis as well as its effects on management, outcomes and epidemiological data of acute diarrheal disease in the Dominican Republic. In addition to my research journey, I have expanded my clinical knowledge on different social settings, from working for a year in a rural clinic at a low-resource area as a part of my medical development, to working in an advanced cardiology center in my country as a medical assistant (currently).
I'm looking forward to learn from every project that will be presented at this event and excited to see what innovations arise in the context of providing our patients an updated aproach that will not only optimize the medical attention they receive, but will also contribute to the evolution of medicine in a setting where the demands are everyday higher y more difficult to meet.
