My name is Hector Jose Lora Rodriguez, a recently graduated medical doctor from Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) in Santo Domingo, Domininican Republic (DR). I have been a research assistant for almost 4 years at the "Instituto de Medicina Tropical y Salud Global" (IMTSAG) under the guidance of our PI, Dr. Robert Paulino-Ramirez in which I have worked in the areas of infectious disease (HIV, TB, MPOX, DENV, etc), public health (stigma and Social Determinants of Health in people living with HIV co-infected with TB), global health and medical education. Also, I am doing my Social Goverment Year in the DR, which is a 12 month period in which we work as a general practitioner; currently I am working in a HIV/STD clinics with the most marginalized people of our country. This year brings a lot of new cycles in my academical and personal life as I am currently applying to internal medicine for MATCH 2025. That will open the door for my to do infectious diseases and critical care as a fellowship in a future.
