Arystan Balmagambetov earned his Bachelor's degree in Public Health from the S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University in 2022. Following his graduation, he joined the Central Asia Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP), sponsored by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where he currently serves as an Applied Epidemiologist.
In 2021, Arystan worked as a statistician at the Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Department of the Turksib District in Almaty, where he played a crucial role in the COVID-19 response. He was responsible for monitoring the epidemiological situation, maintaining and updating the COVID-19 database on an online platform, and conducting educational presentations for medical students on infectious disease prevention.
Since 2023, Arystan has been part of the Health Emergency Operations Center (EOC). His work involves monitoring, collecting, processing, and analyzing data on public health risks and emergencies. He collaborates with governmental and non-governmental organizations to provide data-driven insights, contributing to effective public health decision-making.
