David T. Kuhar, M.D. is the Team Lead for the Hospital Infection Prevention Team in the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He received his M.D. from Emory University and completed his internship/residency and served as a chief resident in internal medicine at New York University Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in infectious diseases at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and is a board-certified physician in internal medicine and infectious diseases. Dr. Kuhar later joined the infectious diseases faculty at Emory University and later began to work for CDC in 2010. As part of his role at CDC, Dr. Kuhar serves as a subject matter expert on infection prevention and control in healthcare personnel, develops guidelines regarding infection prevention in healthcare settings, and participates in investigations of infectious diseases outbreaks in healthcare settings.
