Elise Hyser, DO, MS is board certified in internal medicine and is currently a second-year infectious disease fellow at the University of California San Francisco- Fresno. She is currently the UCSF Fresno Fellow Representative for the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and the GMEC Ad-Hoc Internal Review Committee. Her internal medicine residency was completed at Ascension Health St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, where she was the Chairperson for the Morbidity and Mortality Committee and enjoyed participating in the Research Committee. Dr. Hyser completed her medical degree at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in South Carolina. She received her master’s degree in medical physiology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where she also developed a curriculum for a graduate course entitled The Physiological Basis of Disease. She received her undergraduate degree at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois and was a recipient of the Hermann R. Muelder Academic 4-Year Scholarship for academic excellence. Her professional interests include HIV, fungal infections, TB, global health, infective endocarditis, and hardware infections. She is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the HIV Medicine Association. She has published in the journals Chest, BMC Infectious Diseases, IDCases, Trauma Case Reports, Journal of Medical Case Reports, and Osteopathic Family Physician Journal.
