Andrew Haynes, MD is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, in the Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology. Dr. Haynes obtained his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana. He received his Master of Arts in Medical Humanities and Bioethics at Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois and his medical degree at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois. He completed his pediatric residency and pediatric chief residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California, and his pediatric infectious diseases fellowship at Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO)/University of Colorado School of Medicine prior to joining the faculty at CHCO. His research interests involve antibiotic pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), with a particular focus on optimizing oral antibiotic use in children. He is currently studying PK/PD of oral beta-lactams (amoxicillin and cephalexin) in neonates and young infants.
