Dr. Salwan Al Hani is a Resident Physician at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center in the Department of Internal Medicine and earned his MD degree at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in 2024. Dr. Al Hani completed undergraduate studies from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in Biochemistry cum laude in 2019. Dr. Al Hani is interested in molecular pharmacology and systems biology of infectious disease. Dr. Al Hani has previously worked with Dr. Thomas Graeber at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine studying new molecular therapies for cancer and at California Institute of Technology with Dr. Morteza Gharib on modeling microfluid mechanics in biological systems. Alongside Dr. Matthew Sims at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital, Dr. Al Hani investigated the effectiveness of methenamine to reduce recurrent urinary tract infections. Their work has implications for patients with indwelling urinary catheters who are at high risk of urinary infections. Dr. Al Hani has mentored dozens of disadvantaged high school students who dream of entering careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine through his work with Upward Bound Math & Science program in Los Angeles. A lifelong Angelino, Dr. Al Hani enjoys entrepreneurship, mountain biking, web development and exploring the beautiful scenes of Southern California.
