Ma. Jean Capulong Linsao, MD, is an Adult Infectious Disease Fellow-in-Training at San Lazaro Hospital, a prominent national tertiary referral hospital in Manila, Philippines. During her fellowship, she demonstrated leadership and excellence, serving as Chief Fellow in her senior year.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Community Nutrition from the University of the Philippines, becoming a Registered Nutritionist-Dietitian. Driven by a passion for comprehensive healthcare, she pursued a medical degree at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Inc. She then completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Bulacan Medical Center, where she provided dedicated care to her fellow Bulakeños.
During her residency, her research focused on the intersection of neurodegenerative diseases and gastrointestinal complications, with a particular interest in Parkinson’s Disease. Dr. Linsao has significant work on cases of sigmoid volvulus in Parkinson’s patients, exploring the associated challenges in clinical presentation, management, and outcomes. Her studies emphasize the importance of early recognition and targeted interventions in improving patient outcomes, particularly in conditions where gastrointestinal dysfunction complicates neurodegenerative disease. She also authored a case report on "Eruptive Xanthoma in a Young Adult Male with Severe Dyslipidemia and Newly Diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes," which highlights the importance of recognizing dermatological manifestations as indicators of underlying metabolic conditions. Her research during her fellowship training was recognized when she was awarded 1st place in the Annual Medical Research Paper Contest in the institution.
