Dr. Christopher Prestel is a medical officer on the Hospital Infection Prevention Team in the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion at CDC. Dr. Prestel works to develop pediatric infection prevention and control initiatives and research within the Division. Prior work includes preventing transmission of multidrug-resistant organisms including carbapenemase-producing bacteria and highly-resistant fungi, developing infection control and response assessment tools, outbreak responses ranging from small outbreaks within healthcare to larger community-wide outbreaks, surveillance of healthcare-associated infections, along with pediatric infection prevention education and training. Dr. Prestel is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases.
