D. Kane Cooper, MSPH is a third-year medical student at UNC-Chapel Hill. Prior to medical school, Kane's research focused on SARS-CoV-2 transmission modeling among agricultural workers, and highlighted interventions that could be employed to mitigate their infection risk. During medical school, his continued interest in infectious diseases and public health research motivated him to pursue his current project, which highlights the evolution of infective endocarditis epidemiology among people who inject drugs. Kane aims to integrate his background in public health and infectious disease research into a career that bridges epidemiological investigation with clinical practice.
