Allison Taffet, BS, is a fourth-year medical student at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, currently applying into Internal Medicine residency. She is from Houston, Texas, and attended Rice University, where she studied Biochemistry & Cell Biology with a minor in Medical Humanities. She plans on specializing in infectious diseases after IM residency. She has worked in the lab of Dr. Ratner, in the Pediatrics and Microbiology Departments, since the summer after M1, studying Group B Streptococcus in both pregnant women and invasive disease in non-pregnant people. Her other professional interests include tuberculosis and the history of medicine - her fourth year concentration project is focusing on the history of tuberculosis in New York City, on which she is working with Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Dr. David Oshinsky.
