During my residency I experienced the following rotations: Infectious Disease Consultant, Covid Department, Emergency department, Paediatric department, HIV and sexually transmitted Infections Clinic, Tuberculosis and Non-Tuberculous-Mycobacterial Infections Clinic, Infectious Diseases Day Hospital.
I have carried out the following research activities:
-laboratory reproduction of biofilm formation of Staphylococcus aureus isolated on blood cultures; Clinical research activities on bacteremia, endovascular infections, central nervous system infections, Osteo-articular infections, the use of carbapenems and the use of cefiderocol
From September 2023 to April 2024, I was a Visiting Scholar at Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC, U.S.A.
During my time at Duke University I engaged in the following activities:
-Laboratory research: DNA extraction and quantification of gram-negative strains isolated from bloodstream Infection, gram negative pneumonia and gram-negative urinary tract infection; DNA extraction and quantification of Serratia strains isolated from bloodstream Infection
-Clinical research: investigate the clinical risk factors, complications, and outcomes of hospitalized patients with bacteremia due to Serratia spp compared to other gram-negative species from 2002 to 2021 at Duke University; create a Scenario-Based Survey of Management Recommendations for the Use of Follow-up Blood Cultures in Patients with Varying Risks of Persistent Gram-Negative Bacteremia; write a systematic review on Bacillus Calmette- Guérin infections following intravesical BCG immunotherapy; shadowing clinical rounds as Infectious Disease Consultant with General Infectious Diseases and Transplant Infectious Disease
From September 2024 I’m a Visiting Scholar at UNC Institute of Infectious Disease and Global Health.
My research activity concerns literature review and clinical research in the field of gram-negative bacterial resistance and infections in vulnerable patient populations.
