My name is Sophia Nozick, B.S., and I work for Northwestern University in the Microbiology-Immunology Department as a Research Technologist III in the lab of Dr. Alan Hauser. I started working at Northwestern University in February 2020. Prior to this, I worked as a research assistant at MicroB-plex, a startup, that focused on diagnostics for Lyme Disease and recurrent Clostridium difficile infections. Currently in Dr. Hauser's Lab, I work on a project titled Successful Clinical Response in Pneumonia Therapy (SCRIPT). Here, I analyze bacterial genomic profiles and look at the changes associated with unsuccessful outcomes in patients with pneumonia. Our goal is to be able to identify microbial characteristics that can predict clinical failure in patients with hospital-acquired pneumonia with a focus on Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
