Diana Villarreal, MD, PhD holds a PhD in Cellular Biology and worked as a general pediatrician for four years prior to starting her Pediatric Infectious Disease fellowship. Her fellowship research focuses on improving diagnostic approaches for congenital syphilis by integrating molecular diagnostics with serology. Dr. Villarreal is also interested in developing pharmacometric models to optimize antibiotic use in neonates with congenital infections. She is presenting her retrospective case series on congenital syphilis at IDWeek 2024, based on her work at Los Angeles General Medical Center.
