Dr. Kagimu Enock. Medical graduate from Makerere University,College of Health sciences. Currently working as clinical trial doctor on at the infectious diseases institute, Makerere University with five years of experience in Meningitis trials. My life as a researcher began when i carried out a student led investigation to evaluate the crag screening program in Uganda as one way of reducing HIV associated cryptococcal meningitis through the Uganda research training collaboration (URTC) with University of Minnesota . Right after my one year of medical internship at Mulago National referral hospital, i continued my research career under the mentorship of Prof David Meya and Professor David Boulware, were i have participated in various meningitis trials including ASTRO-cm , AMBITION-cm, RIFT trial, ENACT-cm trial, COAST trial, and currently the ongoing HARVEST and IMPROVE trials. While on the team i have served as the leader of the medical team. As an early career researcher , I got great interest in early detection of HIV associated central nervous system infections through understanding of pathogenesis,immunology and creating novel but cheaper diagnostics for better patient outcomes in low resource settings
