Dr. Sánchez is a Professor of Pediatrics ar The Ohio State University College of Medicine and a board-certified neonatologist and pediatric infectious diseases specialist who has a longstanding interest in clinical and translational research focused on perinatal and neonatal infections and antimicrobial stewardship globally. He earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1981, pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, as well as a fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine from Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, New York, in 1986 and a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases from the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center, Dallas, in 1988. He was on faculty at UTSW from 1986 to 2013 before joining the pediatric faculty at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, OH in August 2013. From 2019 to 2024, he served on the Advisory Committee on Immunizations Practices (ACIP), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
