Chibuzo Enemchukwu, MD, MS, is an infectious disease physician with the NYC Health + Hospitals Correctional Health Services, the primary healthcare provider for the New York City jail system. Dr. Enemchukwu serves as Director of Population Health Initiatives, Director of Clinical Education, and Director of Viral Hepatitis and HIV-Clinical Care Coordination for the medical division. Dr. Enemchukwu's programmatic work uses implementation science tools and patient and community-centered approaches to inform evidence-based programming and interventions across key clinical care areas for persons with justice involvement.
Dr. Enemchukwu graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and earned her medical degree at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine training at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and went on to complete a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Enemchukwu was an NIH-funded KL2 Clinical Scholar at The Rockefeller University, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical and Translational Research and was at the forefront of using implementation science and community engagement methods to address inequities in HIV-related outcomes.
