Dr. Julia K. Nguyen, PharmD is an advanced practice pharmacist at Kaiser Permanente home infusion pharmacy which includes palliative/hospice care, specialty medications, outpatient antimicrobial therapy, advanced medical care at home, and skilled nursing facilities. At her medical center, she is engaged in active research with medication use and health policy. In her teaching role, she serves as a PGY-1 preceptor and has been recognized for outstanding clinical teaching multiple times with the Kaiser Permanente Residency Preceptor of the Year Award and University of California San Francisco Apples for Preceptor Award. As a previous recipient of Kaiser Permanente National Pharmacy Program & Services Performance Improvement Triple Aims Awards, she currently is mentoring skilled nursing facility antimicrobial stewardship and innovative pharmacy practice projects.
Prior to her current role, she earned her Pharm.D. from University California San Francisco School of Pharmacy and completed a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency program at Kaiser Permanente. She completed the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) Pain Traineeship at Hospice of the Western Reserve and Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP) Animicrobial Stewardship certification. She is currently board certified in both pharmacotherapy and geriatrics.
During her professional career, Dr. Nguyen has served in the following leadership capacities: California Society of Health System Pharmacists (CSHP) Government Affairs Advisory Committee, Committee on Nominations, and San Fernando Valley Chapter Delegate and was a previous recipient of the San Fernando Valley Chapter Pharmacist of the Year Award.
