Dr. Mario M. Panaligan is a distinguished medical professional specializing in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. With a career spanning over two decades, Dr. Panaligan has significantly contributed to medical education, clinical practice, and public health.
Currently serving as the Chairman of the Department of Medicine at St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City (SLMC-GC), Dr. Panaligan leads the institution’s efforts in providing comprehensive medical care and advancing the field of medicine. Additionally, as the Head of the HIV Treatment Hub (Clinic 1276) and Chair of the Infection Prevention and Control Unit at Dr. Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRRMMC), he plays a pivotal role in managing infectious diseases and implementing stringent infection control protocols.
An accomplished academic, Dr. Panaligan holds a Master of Science in Tropical Medicine from the College of Graduate School, UERMMMCI, completed in 2024. His educational journey is marked by a solid foundation in clinical training and epidemiology, with significant stints at prestigious institutions such as the Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center at the Keck School of Medicine, the University of Southern California, and the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH).
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the medical community, Dr. Panaligan has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Most Outstanding Alumni Award by UERM SCINTILLA JURIS, the Presidential Award for contributions to the Living Clinical Practice Guidelines on COVID-19, and the Department of Health recognition for COVID-19 response efforts.
Dr. Panaligan is also a prolific author, contributing to numerous peer-reviewed journals. He has co-authored the "Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Diagnosis, Treatment, Prevention, and Control of Tuberculosis in 2021 Update Adult Filipinos". He has published significant research on infectious diseases, including the efficacy of the adjuvanted subunit protein COVID-19 vaccine.
