She was named long-term care incident commander for the COVID response in the Johns Hopkins Health System, and was contributing member in the development and implementation of Governor Hogan’s “strike team” designed to provide assessment, testing, and care delivery to stabilize nursing homes throughout the State of Maryland. She has made significant contributions to academic research in the field of infection control and antibiotic stewardship, serving as the principal investigator in several large grants funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. She served on the White House Commission to guide the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on care of nursing home residents during COVID-19 and has developed various educational materials for prevention of transmission of COVID-19 through Project ECHO and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
