Kimberly A. Couch, PharmD, MA, FIDSA, FASHP is a Clinical Pharmacist for Healix, Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator for Calvert Health, and Adjunct Faculty for University of Maryland Baltimore School of Pharmacy. She is a graduate of Hood College with a BA in Biology, University of Maryland Baltimore School of Pharmacy with a PharmD, and Shepperton University with a MA in medical writing. It was during her education at Hood College that Dr. Couch first encountered infectious diseases when she worked at USAMRIID at Ft. Detrick. Thus began her life-long passion for the intriguing world of infectious diseases. Dr. Couch is a clinician, researcher, and educator responsible for developing clinical and educational initiatives aimed at optimizing medication therapy. She is active in lecturing, research, and provision of pharmaceutical care to hospitalized patients and patients enrolled in outpatient infusion therapy. Dr. Couch has more than 100 publications on medication therapy; is a contributing editor to multiple drug handbooks; and is an invited lecturer at local, national, and international symposia. She is a peer reviewer for several journals and an abstract referee for ASHP and IDSA. She has supervised over 40 pharmacy residents and 200 students. Dr. Couch served three terms as President of the Delaware Society of Health-System Pharmacists. She is also a member of the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists and IDSA. Dr. Couch is a three-time recipient of both the ASHP Presidential Leadership award and Bristol Meyers Squibb Pharmacist Leadership award. She was recognized with The Joint Commission Codman Award for her work on sepsis and as the DSHP Pharmacist of the Year. Dr. Couch has also been recognized three times with the Clinical Practice Leadership award and was a DPS Bowl of Hygeia recipient. She is a Fellow of IDSA and a Fellow of ASHP.
