Yumiko Hayashi is a Japanese medical doctor who specializes in internal medicine. She participated and completed the DTM&H course at Nagasaki University in 2019. After the great experiences in the course, she went on to graduate school at Nagasaki University, School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health. She received her Master's degree in Tropical Medicine by examining the dynamics of cytokines in tuberculosis patients by multiplex assay in 2021.
Her current research interests include evaluating antibody responses to all 24 vaccine serotypes in the pneumococcal vaccine with a newly developed assay and its application to clinical samples. Her research fields are mainly in Japan and Nepal.
She was one of the CTropMed® Exam Recipients by ASTMH in 2021. She was awarded as a special research scholar at Nagasaki University from October 2022 to March 2023. The Japan Society has also awarded her a Research Fellowship for Young Scientists for the Promotion of Science since April 2024.
