Daniel Tassone, Pharm.D., BCIDP
Dr. Tassone is an Infectious Disease Clinical Pharmacy Practitioner for the Central Virginia VA Healthcare System practicing in Richmond Virginia. His current clinical roles include being the Co-Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, serving as an active provider in the HIV, PrEP, HCV outpatient clinics, and inpatient ID consult service. He also managing the outpatient antibiotic therapy program and holds prescriptive authority. Dr. Tassone serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor for Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Pharmacy since 2007. He routinely provides education and training to ID Fellows and Pharmacy Residents. He performs ID and antimicrobial stewardship related collaborative research and has numerous publications. His current research interests include the application, validation, and integration of artificial intelligence (large language models) for antimicrobial stewardship.
He received a B.S. in Chemistry and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from VCU. He then completed his postgraduate pharmacy residency at the Richmond VA Medical Center. Dr. Tassone then pursued a career in academia. He was an Assistant Professor at Wingate University located outside Charlotte, North Carolina, and then at VCU School of Pharmacy where he was one of the founding staff members of the VCU INOVA Fairfax Campus in Northern Virginia. Dr. Tassone is a Board-Certified Infectious Disease Pharmacist (BCIDP).
