Dr. Goto is an associate professor at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and an infectious diseases staff physician at Iowa City VA Medical Center. He completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Kentucky, infectious diseases fellowship at the University of Iowa, and VA Quality Scholars fellowship program at Iowa City VA Medical Center. He is currently an awardee of the AHRQ K08 Career Development Grant to develop prediction models for antimicrobial resistance and co-PI of the VA Merit Award to develop metrics for antimicrobial stewardship. His research interests include the epidemiology of healthcare-associated infections and multidrug-resistant organisms, benchmarking and quality metrics for HAI prevention and antimicrobial consumption, the identification of effective interventions for infectious diseases prevention and outcome improvement, and the effects of healthcare policies on hospital epidemiology practice.
