I have been working as a physician, a clinical researcher, and a professor of infectious diseases at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and Seoul National University College of Medicine since 2009. I have investigated clinical/microbiological characteristics, pathogenesis, virulence factors, and clinical/economic burden of AMR (antimicrobial-resistant) bacterial infection. I also tried to develop comprehensive infection control and antimicrobial stewardship programs to reduce AMR. In my study group, we have collected thousands of clinically important AMR bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella, Acinetobacter, and Pseudomonas species, from over ten multi-centers for more than ten years. Based on these clinical isolates and patients’ data, we have published more than two hundred papers and are still conducting prospective/retrospective studies. Recently, in cooperation with basic researchers in various fields, research on resistance mechanisms, bacterial interactions with host cells, and pathogenesis has begun. I hope to collaborate with experts in multiple areas and am ready to cooperate.
