Michael Abers, MD. NIH. Principal investigator/attending physician. I completed my residency in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. Following residency, I was an fellow in Infectious Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. After the first year of fellowship, I moved to NIH in Bethesda, MD where I conducted research in the laboratory of Michail Lionakis, MD, ScD studying fungal pathogenesis. I am currently an Assistant Clinical Investigator at NIH. As a principal investigator, my laboratory studies the pathogenesis of Nocardia infection in mice and humans.
