Dr. Yasin Abul is an ABIM board-certified physician in internal medicine and geriatrics, and ABIM board-eligible physician in pulmonology and infectious diseases. He graduated from Marmara Medical School in Istanbul, Türkiye, where he completed his combined internal medicine and pulmonary medicine training. After relocating to the United States, Dr. Abul further expanded his expertise by completing an internal medicine residency and geriatrics fellowship at Brown University affiliated programs in Rhode Island, and an infectious diseases fellowship at Stony Brook University in New York.Currently, Dr. Abul serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Clinician Educator in the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics & Palliative Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. .Dr. Abul's research focuses on pulmonary vascular diseases and respiratory infections, with particular emphasis on risk stratification, biomarkers, and health services research. He explores these areas in the context of aging, obesity-metabolic syndrome, immunosenescence, and vaccinations.His enthusiasm, research and clinical work earned him the Actelion Pulmonary Vascular Study Award in 2011 and "The Henry Izeman, MD Prize in Geriatric Medicine" for exemplary performance as a Geriatric Medicine Fellow in 2018.Dr. Abul's commitment to advancing medical knowledge is evident in his academic pursuits. In 2023, he completed the Office of Academic Affiliation Advanced Fellowship in Health Services Research at the Providence Veterans Administration Medical Center's Center on Innovation in Long-Term Services and Supports. Additionally, he earned a Master's degree in Clinical Translational Research from Brown University School of Public Health with a merit scholarship award in 2024.As the director of Brown Physicians Geriatric Medicine Clinics, and a board member of Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) Rhode Island, Dr. Abul serves complex patients with pulmonary and cardiac comorbidities, as well as those experiencing Long COVID symptoms.
