Eric Roessler, MD is a second year Infectious Diseases Fellow at University of Chicago, graduating June 2025. He completed medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA, and internal medicine residency at Rush University Medical Center. He is pursuing a career in academic Infectious Diseases with special interests in the infectious sequelae of physical trauma, the intersection of infectious diseases and substance use disorders, and treatment of people living with HIV. He is currently researching incidence and types of infectious sequelae, antibiotic exposure, and outcomes among trauma patients who underwent laparotomy at University of Chicago Medical Center from 2018-2023, as well as working with an interdisciplinary team to pilot a collaborative care model for patients with comorbid substance use disorder and HIV.
