Dr. Ogimi, M.D., Ph.D. is the Division Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the National Center for Child Health and Development (NCCHD), and an Affiliate Investigator at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. He earned his M.D. and Ph.D. at the University of Toyama in Japan. After working as a pediatrician in Japan, he went to the US for further training. He completed his second Pediatric Residency in NY prior to the beginning of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Fellowship at the University of Washington. He was an Assistant Professor in the Pediatric Infectious Disease Division at the University of Washington/Seattle Children`s Hospital before moving to his current institution, NCCHD. His research focuses on clinical studies to develop and improve therapeutic and preventive strategies for respiratory viral infections in immunocompromised hosts of all ages.
