Dr. Suda is a tenured Professor at the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy, Director of the Transition to Independence Program, Associate Director of the Center for Pharmaceutical Policy and Prescribing, and Research Health Scientist, Associate Director of Clinical Therapeutics and Clinical Pharmacy Specialist with the VA Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion. Dr. Suda is a national expert in antimicrobial and opioid pharmacoepidemiology and effectiveness of implementation strategies to improve prescribing.
Dr. Suda has >$15 million in active awards as Principal Investigator from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health, and Veterans Health Administration. Dr. Suda’s research has informed national policy on outpatient stewardship and the importance of dental prescribing in identifying solutions to the opioid epidemic and mounting antimicrobial resistance. Dr. Suda was the first to develop customized tools and implement antibiotic stewardship in dentistry.
Dr. Suda has served on committees and expert panels focused on antibiotic stewardship and evidenced-based dentistry for the American Dental Association, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, FDI World Dental Congress, The Joint Commission, Veterans Health Administration, Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists, and Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America. Dr Suda has written >220 peer reviewed research articles, fifteen book chapters and received awards for teaching and research, including the CDC Shepard Science Award and the SHEA Antimicrobial Stewardship Scholar Award.
Dr. Suda’s training includes a PharmD, Masters in epidemiology, and post-doctoral training focused on infectious diseases and pharmacoepidemiology.
