Dr. Shana Gleeson is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Section of Infectious Diseases at the Yale School of Medicine. She received her medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital and her Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Yale University/Yale-New Haven Hospital. As a clinician educator, she is active in both clinical infectious diseases and medical education. Her clinical area of expertise is transplant infectious diseases, and so her work focuses primarily on transplant recipients and other patients with significant immunocompromise. Her scholarly activities are frequently focused on the presentation and management of infections in this patient population. As an educator, her work largely involves training infectious disease fellows in the care of transplant recipients and other immunocompromised hosts. Additionally, she is actively involved in education and curriculum development pertaining to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Dr. Gleeson collaborates with infectious disease physicians, historians, and other educators to improve knowledge and understanding regarding systemic bias, racism, and health disparities. The ultimate goal of this work is to enable providers to deliver more equitable care and to advocate for a more just system.
