Emily A. Blumberg, MD, is a transplant infectious diseases specialist and the director of the Transplant Infectious Diseases Program and the Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Dr Blumberg received her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in New York, NY. She then completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL and her fellowship in infectious diseases at Montefiore Medical Center/Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. Dr Blumberg is board certified in internal medicine and infectious disease.

Dr Blumberg's academic interests focus on infectious disease complications in transplant recipients and candidates. She is especially interested in donor derived infections and viral infections, including HIV, CMV, HCV, and COVID-19. She has published over 250 scholarly articles and chapters.

Dr Blumberg is a Deputy Editor for the American Journal of Transplantation and a Section Editor for UpToDate®. She has served as president of AST (American Society of Transplantation) and currently serves on the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network Board of Directors.
