Michael Wells was born in West Jordan, Utah, but grew up all over the country to include: Colorado, North Carolina, and California. He received his undergraduate degree in Microbiology from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, and he attended medical school at Rocky Vista University, South Utah Campus. He is currently a PGY-2 internal medicine resident at Brooke Army Medical Center.
He first gained interest in infectious disease when as an 11 year old, his father bought him the book, "The Hot Zone" by Richard Preston. While he has since learned that not all aspects of the book may not be the most accurate, it gave him the initial exposure into all things infection and microbe related that has continued his interest until this day. He also grew up learning lots about insects as his father is entomologist, and as such Michael has a particular interest in tropical medicine, insect vectored infectious disease as well as parasitic infections.
He is married to stellar and amazing wife and together they have 3 energetic and incredible children.
