Dr. Delma Nieves is a board certified pediatric infectious diseases physician at Children's Hospital of Orange County in Orange, California. She received her MD degree at the University of Washington School of Medicine, completed pediatrics residency at Childrens' Hospital of Orange County and her infectious diseases fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles David Geffen School of Medicine. She is currently a Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California, Irvine and the Program Director for the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship. Her work includes clinical medicine, clinical research, medical education and hospital committees and leadership. She has peer reviewed publications in the topics of leptospirosis, pertussis, fungal infections, pneumococcal disease, neonatal infectins, COVID and other pediatric infections. She has contributed book chaptersin Feigin and Cherry's Textbook of Pediatric Infecious Diseases, Remington and Klein's Infectious Diseases of the Fetus and Newborn Infant, Microbiology Spectrum and in Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19): A clinical Guide. Her professional society memberships include American Academy of Pediatrics, Pediatric Infectious
Diseases SOciety, Infectius Disease Society of America, American Society for Microbiology and Society for Pediatric Reseach. She currently also serves on the PIDS Training Programs Committee.
