Dagan Coppock, MD, MSCE first developed an interest in the field of Infectious Diseases while working as a phlebotomist in a rural Ghanaian hospital as an undergraduate. The hospital served a region with a high burden of HIV at the height of the epidemic. After graduation from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in biology, Dr. Coppock received a Fulbright Scholarship for creative writing, which was performed in Nigeria prior to his matriculation at Yale School of Medicine. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Following his residency, he worked as a primary care physician through the National Health Service Corps then served as the first country program director for the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Botswana-Harvard Partnership Global Health Program. He returned to the United States and completed a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases and a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Sidney Kimmel Medical College where he serves as the director of the HIV Ambulatory Care Program.
