I finished medicine (2004), pediatric residency (2008) and pediatric infectious disease fellowship (2014) at Universidad CES. Medellin - Colombia, and later, moved to the US for further training in pediatric infectious diseases at Nationwide Children's Hospital / The Ohio State University, where I completed fellowship in 2020. Since then, I returned to my home country and work as pediatric ID faculty in two academic hospitals. I perform duties as consultant for both immunocompetent and immunocompromised hosts, including those with solid and hematopoyetic stem cell transplant recipients, and as antibiotic stewardship leader. I have academic activiities with trainees spanning undergraduate up to fellows. My research interests include antimicrobial resistant infections in children including MRSA and Gram negative infections, understanding the epidemiology of viral infections in our country and development of effective antibiotic stewardship strategies in my institutions.
