Dr. Schranz is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He is a clinician investigator engaging in health services research in infectious diseases. His work largely focuses on epidemiology and clinical practice issues at the intersection of severe infections, such as infective endocarditis, and substance use disorders. He also studies viral hepatitis and clinical practice issues related the delivery of OPAT. In addition, he is active in IDSA efforts to improve reimbursement for ID and participates in IDSA's Coding and Payment Subcommittee.
